What it does

ODSP Remote MCP Server is a remote MCP endpoint that Microsoft runs as part of Agent 365. ODSP stands for OneDrive and SharePoint: the server gives an agent access to the files a signed-in user can reach in those two services within their Microsoft 365 tenant. There is nothing to download; a client connects to a per-tenant address over streamable HTTP, with the Microsoft Entra tenant ID filled into the URL.

Microsoft's catalog of its MCP servers (github.com/microsoft/mcp) lists it under the productivity category and says its tools are discovered from the ODSP endpoint when a client connects, rather than being fixed in a published list. Neither the catalog nor the official MCP registry entry (com.microsoft/workiq-odspremoteserver, version 1.0.0, published 2026-03-25) names the individual tools, and the source folder the catalog links to sits in a repository that requires a Microsoft enterprise sign-in, so the tool set cannot be checked from public pages.

The server belongs to the group of workload-specific Microsoft 365 servers that Microsoft's Agent 365 documentation describes as a legacy experience, kept for testing and backward compatibility. Microsoft points new projects to Work IQ MCP, a single endpoint with ten generic tools that discover Microsoft 365 resources at runtime. Microsoft also documents a separate OneDrive-only server (mcp_OneDriveRemoteServer) under the same legacy note; this ODSP endpoint is a different server ID.

What it needs

A Microsoft 365 tenant where Agent 365 is available, and that tenant's Microsoft Entra tenant ID to put into the endpoint URL. The user signs in with a Microsoft Entra work or school account that has OneDrive or SharePoint access. An administrator governs which MCP servers the tenant exposes in the Tools registry of the Microsoft 365 admin center, so the server must be present and allowed there. An MCP client that supports streamable HTTP remotes.

Limits

Microsoft's Agent 365 docs class the app-specific OneDrive and SharePoint MCP servers as legacy, retained for testing and backward compatibility, and say not to use them in production or new projects. The tool list is not published: Microsoft's catalog says tools are discovered from the endpoint at connection time. Whether it shows up in a tenant depends on region, rollout, licensing and administrator approval. Its source repository is not public.

Who it suits

Suits an organisation already on Agent 365 that has an existing agent wired to this OneDrive and SharePoint endpoint and needs to keep it running. For anything new, Microsoft's own documentation steers toward Work IQ MCP instead, since this workload-specific server is kept only for backward compatibility. It does not suit personal Microsoft accounts, people outside a Microsoft 365 tenant, or anyone who wants to run the server on their own machine or inspect its code: it is hosted by Microsoft and its repository is private. Someone who needs a documented, fixed tool list should look elsewhere.
