What it does

Work IQ Calendar is one of the application-specific Microsoft 365 servers that Microsoft runs as part of Agent 365. Nothing is installed: an agent connects over streamable HTTP to a per-tenant address on agent365.svc.cloud.microsoft, with the Microsoft Entra tenant ID filled into the URL, and the server acts on Outlook calendars through Microsoft Graph.

Its 11 tools cover the life of a meeting. An agent can list events or a calendar view for a time range, fetch one event, create an event (with attendees, recurrence and a Teams or Skype meeting link), update, cancel or delete it, accept or decline an invitation, read free/busy schedules for people, distribution lists or rooms, and ask for suggested meeting times. Most tools take an optional userId, so they can work on another user's calendar where permissions allow, not only the signed-in user's.

Microsoft labels the server a preview and, in both its Agent 365 and Copilot Studio reference pages, says these per-app tools exist for backward compatibility and should not be used for production or new projects; it points new work to Work IQ MCP instead. The official MCP registry lists it as com.microsoft/workiq-calendartools, version 1.0.1 (published 2026-07-10), with tenant_id marked as a required URL variable. The docs also note that the calendar server leans on the separate User Profile server to look people up in the organisation.

What it needs

A Microsoft 365 work tenant with Agent 365 / Work IQ tools available, and the tenant's Microsoft Entra tenant ID to put in the endpoint URL. A user or agent identity that can sign in with Entra ID and has rights to the mailboxes it touches. An administrator may need to approve or enable the server in the Tools registry of the Microsoft 365 admin center; availability varies by tenant, region, rollout and licensing.

Limits

Preview: Microsoft says tool names and parameters may change and advises against hard-coded dependencies. Microsoft says the app-specific Microsoft 365 servers, Calendar included, are for backward compatibility only and not for production or new projects. Hosted only; there is no package to run yourself. Timestamps must be ISO 8601 with a time zone; attendee address, type and name arrays must be in the same order; online meetings need both isOnlineMeeting and onlineMeetingProvider; recurrence needs both a pattern and a range. Finding people by name relies on the separate User Profile (MeServer) server.

Who it suits

Suits a team already building agents on Microsoft 365 through Agent 365 or Copilot Studio that needs an agent to read Outlook calendars, schedule meetings and check availability without hosting anything, and that can accept a preview with changing tool names. Because Microsoft itself steers new projects away from these per-app servers, anyone starting fresh should look at Work IQ MCP, which we also list; it is not a fit for personal Outlook.com accounts or for anyone outside a Microsoft 365 tenant.
