What it does

OneSignal MCP Server is a hosted endpoint run by OneSignal at https://api.onesignal.com/mcp/oauth. An AI client connects to it over HTTP and signs in with a OneSignal account, then can work on the apps that account is allowed to manage, with no per-app configuration; list_apps finds the app IDs.

Its 43 tools cover sending and reviewing push, email and SMS messages, looking up and editing users, aliases and subscriptions, managing templates and segments, starting and updating iOS Live Activities, exporting subscribers or audience activity to CSV, creating and listing custom events, checking email domain DNS and inbox-provider deliverability, planning and applying IP or domain warmup schedules, and reading outcome analytics. Four utility tools report health, configuration and a reference overview.

Sign-in uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE (S256) and dynamic client registration: the endpoint's authorization-server metadata publishes a registration endpoint at https://api.onesignal.com/oauth/register and sends the user to dashboard.onesignal.com to approve access. That is why OneSignal's docs tell users to leave the OAuth client ID and secret fields blank in Claude's custom connector form; filling them makes the connection fail.

The server is part of OneSignal AI, which OneSignal marks as beta. It is listed in the Claude connectors directory, the Cursor Marketplace and the OpenAI / ChatGPT plugins directory.

What it needs

A OneSignal account with access to the apps you want to manage, and permission to approve access through OneSignal's browser sign-in. An MCP client that supports remote HTTP servers with OAuth sign-in. In Claude Code, finish sign-in from the /mcp panel (select onesignal, then Authenticate). During the open beta, OneSignal may need to enable an app before its non-utility tools work.

Limits

Remote only: clients that can run only local stdio servers cannot connect, and there is no package to run yourself. During the open beta, tools other than the utility ones may stay unavailable until OneSignal enables the app. Tool calls are rate limited and count against the account's normal OneSignal API usage limits. send_message accepts one targeting method per send and caps the number of filters. The server itself costs nothing extra; the AI client may have its own costs.

Who it suits

Teams already on OneSignal who want to look up users, check delivery and deliverability, build segments or send messages from Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, Codex or VS Code without opening the dashboard. Because it is OneSignal's own hosted server with OAuth, there is no API key to store, and access can be revoked per client. It acts with the full permissions of the person who signs in, across every app they can reach, and can send real messages, so give it to people already trusted to send campaigns. Pick something else if your client supports only local stdio servers or you need to run the server inside your own network.
