Settings 3

KARAKEEP_API_ADDR Required: Address of your Karakeep server, e.g. https://cloud.karakeep.app.
KARAKEEP_API_KEY Required: API key from your Karakeep settings page.
KARAKEEP_CUSTOM_HEADERS Optional: JSON object of extra HTTP headers sent to the server, e.g. Cloudflare Access client id and secret.

What it does

The Karakeep MCP Server connects an assistant to Karakeep, the bookmark manager, so it can work with your saved data. It can search bookmarks and read their content, create text and URL bookmarks, update and delete them, and manage lists (including smart lists), tags and highlights. It can also get temporary signed download links for stored assets. The server only offers tools; it exposes no resources.

It is published by the Karakeep project from the apps/mcp folder of the main Karakeep repository, as the npm package @karakeep/mcp and the container image ghcr.io/karakeep-app/karakeep-mcp.

To use it you need a Karakeep instance, either self-hosted or the hosted cloud.karakeep.app, and an API key from your Karakeep settings page. The address of the instance and the key are passed as environment variables. Extra HTTP headers can be added, for example Cloudflare Access credentials when the instance sits behind Cloudflare Access.
