An assistant connected to it can find out whether one or more domain names are free to register and can ask for name ideas from keywords or a short description of a business. Answers carry availability, a price where GoDaddy has one, and a link to register the name on godaddy.com.
There is nothing to install: a client connects over streamable HTTP, and Claude users can also add it from the Claude connector directory. It works on public domain data only, so no GoDaddy account or API key is involved, and searches are not tied to an account.
GoDaddy's engineering blog explains how it works, which the setup page does not. The availability tool takes a comma-separated list: a single name goes to an exact-search lookup that returns more detail (pricing tiers, premium status, other TLDs), while several names go to a bulk lookup. For longer, sentence-style suggestion requests, the server first passes the text to an internal LLM that splits it into several keyword sets, then merges the results. If that step fails or its quota runs out, it falls back to the plain query. Responses include Markdown text for clients like Claude Desktop and Cursor, plus structured data that ChatGPT can show as interactive domain cards.
An MCP client that supports streamable HTTP (or Claude Desktop through its connector directory) and internet access to api.godaddy.com. No GoDaddy account, API key or paid plan is needed. Use of the service falls under GoDaddy's Universal Terms of Service and API Terms of Use.
Read-only: it cannot register, buy or transfer domains, change DNS or touch account settings; GoDaddy points to its gddy CLI agent skill for those. Requests are rate-limited per client IP, and heavy use may be throttled for a while. Availability and prices can change quickly, so check again before buying. Long suggestion queries get less varied results when the LLM expansion step is unavailable or its quota is used up (GoDaddy blog).
Suits anyone who wants an assistant to brainstorm and check domain names without handing over credentials: it is official, hosted by GoDaddy, needs no sign-in and changes nothing. It does not suit people who need to register domains, manage DNS or work with names already in their GoDaddy account. For that, GoDaddy's own pages point to the gddy CLI agent skill, which uses your own authenticated credentials. It is also a poor fit for anyone who needs a server they can run offline or on their own machine.
