What it does

Blitz is a SwiftUI desktop app for macOS that walks an app through Apple's release process: store listing text, screenshots, in-app purchases and subscriptions, pricing, code signing, building and uploading, and finally the Submit for Review step. The MCP server is built into the app. While Blitz is running it listens on 127.0.0.1, and the npm package @blitzdev/blitz-mcp is only a small stdio bridge: it checks that /Applications/Blitz.app and the script ~/.blitz/blitz-mcp-bridge.sh exist, then hands every request to the running app.

Through the server an assistant can open, create or import Blitz projects, pick and boot a simulator, read the structured state of any tab instead of taking screenshots, fill App Store Connect form fields per locale, stage and sync screenshot tracks (ten slots per device family), create a new version, create IAPs and auto-renewable subscriptions with a review screenshot, set the price, read Apple's rejection feedback, set up signing, archive an IPA and upload it to App Store Connect or TestFlight.

The README speaks of about 35 tools and lists simulator touch, swipe and live capture among the app's features. The registry file at v1.0.35 (src/services/mcp/MCPRegistry.swift) registers 37 tools, and none of them taps or swipes in the simulator. The only simulator tools list devices and select-and-boot one. Each tool is also put in a category there. Navigation and query tools run straight away. Tools that change projects, settings, store forms, screenshots, submissions or the build pipeline fall in mutation categories, and the app's approval-flow design doc says those wait for an Approve or Deny prompt in the app.

What it needs

RuntimeNode.js

A Mac with macOS 14 or later and the Blitz app installed at /Applications/Blitz.app (download from blitz-mac.com or the GitHub releases), launched once so it writes ~/.blitz/blitz-mcp-bridge.sh, and running while the server is used. Node.js for npx. An Apple Developer account with an App Store Connect API key (issuer ID and .p8 file); some calls also need an Apple ID web sign-in in the app. Xcode for the signing and build tools.

Limits

macOS only: the bridge exits unless /Applications/Blitz.app and ~/.blitz/blitz-mcp-bridge.sh exist, and it does nothing unless the app is running. The 37 tools at v1.0.35 cannot tap, swipe or record the simulator; they only list devices and select-and-boot one. Screenshot tracks hold slots 1 to 10. asc_create_iap and asc_create_subscription require a review screenshot and add only an en-US localization. The npm bridge on the registry is version 1.0.26 while the app is at v1.0.35; the tools come from the app's version. store_listing_switch_localization is marked deprecated in favour of app_information_switch_localization.

Who it suits

Developers on a Mac who ship iOS or macOS apps and want an assistant such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor to do the App Store Connect paperwork, including IAPs, screenshots, signing, upload and submission, with a click-to-approve prompt in a desktop app for changes. It is not a fit on Linux, Windows or a headless CI machine, since everything runs through the GUI app. It is also not a fit for driving the simulator by touch, which these tools do not do. It writes to a live App Store Connect account, so it suits people who are ready to review each approval prompt.
