What it does

Blade MCP is Razorpay's own server for Blade, the company's React design system. It gives a coding assistant Blade's documentation for components, patterns and general topics like setup, theming and tokens, so the code it writes follows Blade's components and design guidelines instead of guesses.

It also helps set up projects. create_new_blade_project returns step-by-step instructions for starting a Vite, React and TypeScript app from Blade's template. create_blade_skill writes a UI code guidelines skill into the project, under .agents/skills/ui-code-guidelines, and links it from .claude/skills. get_blade_changelog pulls Blade's changelog from the GitHub repository's master branch.

The published version 1.32.3 registers nine tools over stdio. The README lists seven: it still names create_blade_cursor_rules, which the code has replaced with create_blade_skill, and it leaves out get_blade_changelog and publish_lines_of_code_metric (createServer.ts). publish_lines_of_code_metric reports how many lines the assistant added and removed, and its description asks the assistant to call it once after every set of edits so the Blade team can track adoption.

What it needs

RuntimeNode.js 18+

Node.js 18 or later, so npx can run it. A coding assistant that starts stdio servers; the docs give configs for Cursor, VS Code and Claude Desktop. get_figma_to_code works for Razorpay employees only, since it calls an internal Razorpay backend. No account or key is needed for the other tools.

Limits

get_figma_to_code is for Razorpay employees only, as the README says. Its code calls blade-chat.dev.razorpay.in (getFigmaToCode.ts). create_new_blade_project creates nothing itself: it returns commands (npx degit, npm install) for the assistant to run. get_blade_changelog reads the changelog from the repository's master branch, so it can describe Blade releases that are newer than the one your project uses. The README's tool table is out of date for 1.32.3 (see above). npx caches the package, so the README says updates arrive only after a few days unless you clear the npx cache.

Who it suits

It suits teams building React interfaces with Razorpay's Blade design system who want their assistant to look up the right component props and patterns as it writes code. It is published by Razorpay and runs locally with no sign-in. It is not useful for projects that use any other component library. The Figma conversion is closed to people outside Razorpay. If you don't want project details or usage events sent to Razorpay's analytics, read the security note before installing.
